First Minister's Reading Challenge
We were absolutely delighted to be announced as the winner of the School Community Partnership award in the First Minister’s Reading Challenge in June 2017. Riverside was recognised as the top school in Scotland for our work in developing a lifelong love for reading for all. We are extremely proud of this and strive to create an exciting atmosphere around our school library.

Part of our journey in The First Minister’s Reading Challenge was to redesign our school library. We had a very talented group of parents and pupils that helped with the design and this has completely transformed the space. Our lunchtime Rocking Readers club is busier than ever! Mr Pennock, Headteacher at Wallace High, kindly agreed to open this for us in February.

These are some of the wonderful designs that we have in our African themed library. All animals were designed and painted by the pupils themselves following a very exciting competition.

As you can see, reading is very important at Riverside and we just love to share a story. Here are some of our youngest pupils enjoying a story with Mrs Robertson, during Rocking Readers.
